Open-Die Steel Forgings

Akmetal produces open-die steel forgings for unique shapes in special materials with a 1,000-tonne forging press and a 6-tonne manipulator. Open-die forging capacity is up to 7 tonnes. Work runs at the Tuzla Tepeören plant together with steel foundry metallurgy since 1963.

CNC Mechanical Processing

CNC machining is handled in-house as part of the same process as extrusion. Accurate machining for complex and detailed parts. Machining, drilling, punching and other fabrication-related operations can be reviewed with the quotation. Semi-fabricating for energy and assembly work includes cutting to size, drilling, machining and fixing. Anodising and powder coating sit in the same chain from die to despatch.

Automatic Moulding Line

Production uses a jacketed automatic moulding machine and pouring line of 600×700 mm at 60 moulds/hour. An 18 t/h fully automatic sand plant feeds the line. Ductile and grey iron parts of 1–50 kg are poured on this line at 1,800 t/year.

Casting CNC Machining

Parts can be delivered raw, primed or fully CNC machined. In-house CNC machines finish grey iron, ductile iron and steel castings. Under ISO 9001, chemical analysis, mechanical testing, NDT and 3D CMM scanning are applied batch by batch.

Green and Resin Sand Moulding

Green sand and resin sand moulding are used for EN-GJL, EN-GJS and steel. Work runs from prototype to large series to customer drawings. Parts are cast in the Konya foundry and, depending on material and quantity, through a network of qualified partner foundries.

Each Morçelik part goes through modelling, sand preparation, melting, moulding, cleaning/grinding and quality control. The 7,000 m² Konya 3rd OIZ plant pours 11,000 t/year of grey iron, ductile iron and steel. Melting is up to 10 tonnes per heat with high-rate pouring.

Pattern and Mould Making

Kılavuz can make patterns and process parts from customer drawings. Grey iron, ductile iron, steel, stainless, bronze and aluminium are then cast from 1 to 5,000 kg. Production at İMES follows applicable national and international standards.

Machining is EK SEN’s main process and is carried out on vertical and horizontal CNC machines. Design and programming use SolidWorks 2020 3D CAD & CAM. Part inspection can be performed in-house on a ZEISS CMM SPECTRUM 10/16/6 RDS VAST XXT in line with the quality-control process.

Precision Grinding

Grinding removes stock with an abrasive and is used from defence to medical work; it is the last manufacturing step. A rotating disc or cylindrical wheel brings the semi-finished part to final size. At Puntaş grinding is used to raise surface quality, take tight-tolerance stock from hardened surfaces, correct heat-treatment distortion on cylindrical parts and polish faces.

Green-Sand and Machine Moulding Casting

Grey and ductile iron casting on automatic green-sand moulding lines and flask conveyors. The plant runs about 200 moulds/hour and 18 t/h melting capacity for infrastructure, automotive and machinery parts.
