Carbon and Low-Alloy Steel Castings
Carbon and low-alloy steel castings are produced with stainless as AKMETAL’s main output. AOD secondary steelmaking is described as one of the few such converters in Europe. Parts weigh 10 kg to 14 tonnes for OEM portfolios including pulp and paper and energy.
Stainless Steel Castings
Since 1963 AKMETAL has produced mainly stainless, low-alloy and carbon steel castings. Electric-arc and induction furnaces are combined with an AOD converter; casting weight is 10 kg to 14 tonnes. Supply is to OEMs in oil and gas, offshore, lifting, mining, energy and pressure equipment.
Services
1,000-Tonne Open-Die Forging
Open-die steel forging is done on a 1,000-tonne press with a 6-tonne manipulator for unique shapes in special materials. Capacity is up to 7 tonnes. Casting and forging share the same metallurgical plant for oil-and-gas, mining and energy OEMs.
Heavy Steel Casting (10 kg–14 t)
AKMETAL’s steel casting range is 10 kg to 14 tonnes. Stainless, low-alloy and carbon steels are made with electric arc, induction and AOD. OEM supply for offshore, heavy lifting, pressure equipment and pulp and paper uses this weight range.
AOD Steel Casting
Electric-arc and induction furnaces are combined with an AOD converter for secondary steelmaking, described as one of the few in Europe. AKMETAL pours stainless, low-alloy and carbon steel castings from 10 kg to 14 tonnes with this route. The Tuzla Tepeören plant has operated since 1963.
