Alcon (A) Putty Metal Bond is a mixture of epoxy resins and steel powders with very strong adhesion to many metals such as steel and cast iron, to concrete and to some hard plastics. It is used for bonding broken machine parts, filling casting defects and cavities, bonding and repairing drilled tanks, vessels, pipes and flanges, and covering and protecting metal surfaces damaged by friction or abrasion. Mix ratio 9:1 by weight, 2.5:1 by volume. Working time 45 minutes for 500 g at 24 °C. Cure 16 hours. Shore D 85. Tensile strength 22.2 MPa, compressive strength 57 MPa. Maximum dry service temperature 120 °C. Code M-2222, 500 g tin, 10 per carton.

It fully cures in 20 minutes at a continuous 120 °C. It is ready to use; applied with a trowel, spatula or roller, then the part is placed in an oven.
