Propeller Shaft / Cardan Shaft

Tirsan propeller shafts are made for light and heavy commercial vehicles, buses and off-highway vehicles. The 60,000 m² Manisa plant has 1.5 million shafts/year capacity. Mercedes-Benz, Ford Otosan, Volkswagen and Iveco are among direct customers. Shaft length and joint type follow the vehicle platform.

Steering Shaft

Steering shafts are the second main product in Tirsan’s propeller-shaft family. Dedicated automotive solutions are developed at the Manisa R&D and production plant. It is an approved OEM and OES supplier. Column connection is made to vehicle type.

Automotive R&D and Product Development

Starting with the Product Development Department in 1961, Ford Otosan’s R&D has the know-how, capability and infrastructure to design, develop and test a complete vehicle including the engine until it becomes a commercial product. As the largest R&D organization in the Turkish automotive industry, it exports engineering with about 2,300 R&D employees. It is a support center for design and engineering of Ford light commercial vehicles and the global engineering center for heavy commercials and their diesel engines and engine systems. Projects span engine technologies, vehicle light-weighting, electrification, battery and hydrogen technologies.
