Ultrasonic Horns (Sonotrodes)
CNC Machining ProductUltrasonic horns (sonotrodes) transmit vibration to the weld or cut zone in welding, cutting, soldering and drilling. Mikro Makina CNC-machines horns from titanium (Ti6Al4V), aluminium 7075 and stainless steel as λ/2 resonators matched to the system. Operating frequencies are 20, 30, 35 and 40 kHz; amplitude 10–50 μm; geometry is flat, slotted, notched or custom and FEM-optimised. On 5-axis CNC, horns are resonance-tested and dynamically balanced to minimise vibration losses. Micro-texturing (Rz 3–5 μm) can increase frictional grip.
