Şahin Demir Sanayi started in the sector with transportation in 1995, then began iron and steel trade in 1999, buying and selling and having contract manufacturing done. In 2003 the company bought a rolling mill in Karabük New Industrial Section. Between 2003 and 2008 it manufactured its own products and continued trading because production was insufficient. In 2008 it decided to enlarge and rebuild a hot rolling plant in Karabük Organized Industrial Zone. The ongoing investment covers 25,000 m2 in total with 10,000 m2 of closed area already built; a hot rolling plant plus wrought-iron and cold-drawing facilities are being installed. The hot rolling plant is planned to produce round, flat (lama), silme, square and angle bars, with 70,000 tonnes per year targeted. The company still buys and sells angle, lama, silme, square, profile and wrought iron, and hauls these products with its own trucks. Its aim is to raise product range and capacity and to serve both domestic and export markets. Until 2008 it was a sole proprietorship and then became a limited company. Management is General Manager Süleyman Şahin, Sales Manager Asuman Odabaş and Accounting Manager Aslıhan Şahin. The company trades square, lama, silme and profile and also does transport and wrought-iron manufacturing, targeting hot-rolling production in the near future.
