Vertical Liquid Receivers
Liquid receivers are used to accommodate fluctuations in the system and in ambient temperatures. On the high-pressure side they act as a cushion between liquid and hot gas, prevent hot gas from reaching the evaporator and allow liquid in the circuit to settle. They are also used to collect and store refrigerant when service is required. Receivers are manufactured from 0.5 L to 1000 L in accordance with CE 2014/68/EU [PED]. They are installed on the high-pressure side of the refrigeration circuit, at the condenser outlet. In the GVN VLR vertical range, an example rating is 33 bar maximum working pressure, 1 litre volume, Ø89 mm shell, ODS 1/4 in connection, HCFC, HFC, R290 and R717 refrigerants, and -20°C to +130°C operating temperature.
Suction Line Accumulators
Suction line accumulators are installed between the evaporator and the compressor. They hold liquid refrigerant so the compressor does not ingest liquid and only vapour is sent on. A U-tube and tube-in-tube design is used for maximum refrigerant flow and minimum oil hold-up: vapour is drawn from the top while oil and liquid collected in the vessel return through a hole in the return tube with the gas. Heat-exchanger accumulators are used when evaporation temperature is very low. They are recommended for parallel compressors, transport refrigeration, two-stage systems, hot-gas defrost, container cooling, long lines, reverse cycle, heat pumps and flooded evaporators. Hold-up capacity should not be below 50% of system charge; 50–70% is advised. A GVN SLA example is 33 bar maximum working pressure, 1.7 L, Ø114 mm, ODS 1/2 in, HCFC, HFC, R290 and R717, PED CAT.I/CAT.II, -20°C to +130°C.
Helical Oil Separators
Helical oil separators separate oil from discharge gas and return it effectively to the compressor, keeping crankcase oil level and reducing excess oil circulation to raise system efficiency. They are designed for low-pressure oil management and can be used in many systems and with multiple compressors. The internal spiral and stainless filter are more efficient than conventional separators. The gas/oil mix is moved by centrifugal force along the helix so oil particles hit the wall and collect in the bottom chamber. They are designed for scroll and reciprocating compressors; use with screw and rotary compressors is not recommended. A GVN OS.H example is rated 45 bar maximum working pressure, 2.5 L volume, Ø102 mm, ODS 5/8 in, HCFC, HFC, R290, R717 and R-410A, PED CAT.I/CAT.II, -20°C to +130°C.
Services
Pressure Vessel Design Engineering
Product and pressure vessel calculations are performed with Visual Vessel Design in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive, EN 13445 and related international standards. Designs are checked for pressure, strength and safety before production and released only after technical data are verified. Design-approval certificates exist for special designs, and type-approval covers Ø114, Ø140 and Ø168 flat covers. Flanges, ODS, NPT and other connections are machined on CNC lathes and machining centres to drawings. After assembly, products undergo dimensional, visual and functional checks, are labelled under CE 2014/68/EU, and ship with a product-specific Declaration of Conformity and user manuals.
Welded Pressure Equipment Fabrication
Most product welds are made with CNC robotic welding and automation. TIG, MIG and automated welding support continuous serial production. Pressure equipment is manufactured under EN ISO 3834-2 using semi-automatic and fully automatic robotic systems, with submerged-arc, argon, gas, oxygen and stainless-steel welding methods. Welding is performed by EN ISO 14732 certified operators to approved WPQR procedures and WPS instructions. Weld inspection follows ISO 9001 and EN 13445-5 using VT, PT and RT NDT and, when required, macro tests. After sandblasting, accepted parts go through phosphate cleaning and an electrostatic powder line more than 150 metres long.
Custom Pressure Vessel Manufacturing
Besides standard GVN catalogue items, project-specific refrigeration pressure vessels are manufactured to customer requirements. Güven Soğutma produces in a modern plant with 23,000 m² indoor area, advanced machinery, engineering infrastructure and more than 150 employees. Raw materials follow the Pressure Equipment Directive and EN 13445-2, using EN 10028 certified traceable steels. Body pipes are produced by Borusan Mannesmann in P355NH with EN 10204 3.1 certification; flat material is P355GH and couplings/flanges P265GH. Cylinders, heads and feet are made on deep-drawing presses under PED Annex I 4.3. All finished products receive 100% pneumatic leak testing; high-pressure groups also undergo burst tests to EN 14276-1.
