Concentrated zinc oxide

At the Karabük OSB plant, EAF flue dust from the partner steel companies is treated with the Waelz process: high-temperature treatment and a series of steps render the dust harmless and separate concentrated zinc oxide. The facility can obtain around 50,000 tons of zinc oxide from nearly 200,000 tons of flue dust per year. All of its high-quality product is exported to foreign markets; production has continued since January 2013.
