It is mounted on screw posts set 60–80 metres apart from ground level; post spacing is adjusted to the application and the mesh can be moved by removing the screws. It resists abrasion. Main types are PVC-coated and galvanized: galvanized mesh woven from steel wire with zinc and hot-dip galvanizing, and PVC-coated mesh where a PVC layer is added on the wires.

Wire Forms ProductPVC-coated wire, increasingly used in greenhouses and vineyards, is chosen for fencing and perimeter security with an aesthetic finish. It is made by forming a PVC layer around the wire via a special extrusion process; the steel core is hot-dip galvanized against rust. Protection from harmful sun rays is a primary aim. Produced with flexibility suitable for weaving, it keeps coating integrity in industrial, decoration, greenhouse and agricultural applications. It also serves as binding, tension, mesh or laundry wire and can be washed or wiped clean.
